The Defense & Foreign Affairs Group of information services and systems has been providing impartial strategic information and analysis to more than 170 governments worldwide since 1972. It produces a variety of on-line and printed publications and services for professionals involved in national and international security as well as hosting special conferences and seminars on strategic and defense topics around the world.
The Defense & Foreign Affairs Group in 1998 merged with the International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA), with which it had worked since 1983, to provide its services under the umbrella of a worldwide non-governmental organization (NGO) which is registered in the United States as a non-profit, tax-exempt educational foundation [registered as a 501(c)(3) organization with the US Internal Revenue Service.]
ISSA and the Defense & Foreign Affairs Group are completely non-aligned with any nation, cause or industrialist, and undertake global strategic intelligence collection, processing and analysis from a grand strategy perspective; that is, assessing defense, political, historical, geopolitical, economic, cultural, religious, linguistic, technological and other factors to achieve the most balanced possible results. ISSA itself is a membership organization comprised of senior professionals involved in national or international security, politics, defense or elected office around the world. The Defense & Foreign Affairs Group is supported by a team of field collectors and analysts around the world, and has a strong track record of impartial analysis. The Defense & Foreign Affairs Group produces such publications as the annual 1,800-page encyclopedia, the Defense & Foreign Affairs Handbook, the monthly journal Defense & Foreign Affairs Strategic Policy, and a series of books on strategic topics. It produced the Defense & Foreign Affairs Daily for almost two decades as a printed newspaper; that publication is now exclusively on-line within the Global Information System.
